Question : My son and I were goofing around last night and he inadvertently, yet very soundly, hit me on the brow bone with his elbow. This morning it is slightly swollen, even down to my cheekbone and underneath my eye. Though it is not tender to the touch, the left side of my face, side of injury, is throbbing. Should I go in to have it checked or just ice and take anti-inflammatory meds?

Brief Answer:
You developed edema due to trauma.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Trauma has lead to Sub cutaneous edema in your case.

Apart from Ice, Anti inflammatory tablets, I add tablet containing Trypsin-Chymotrypsin to my patients with similar complaints (you may need prescription for the same from your local doctor).

You can wait for 5 days.
If the swelling doesn't subside even after the days, you can consult your doctor.

Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
