Brief Answer:
Normally I do not give shots for this swelling , only with medicines.

Detailed Answer:
Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel , Orthopedic Surgeon.
Your knee pain has flared up and it is swollen.
At your age I suspect that your arthritis has flared up . For my patients I do not give any shots . I start pain killers , hot fomentation and local analgesic cream for 1-2 weeks and usually they settle.
If you have recurrent problem then it will be better to find the exact cause and get treatment accordingly.
