Question : I am male 72 with 100% blockage midcircumflex artery 7 years. Swab tests for strep have been positive @ 10 days at storefront, non-MD "clinic" led to two courses of amoxicillin 500 mg with no progress from rn, whom I had asked for stronger dosage. Then PA put me on Cefprozil x 500 x 2 per day. Now 30 days antibiotics and throat swollen hard swallowing short breath. What Rx,dosage recommended and CBC request?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
The cause of your discomfort is likely to be something more than a simple streptococcal infection of the throat. Do you have fever, neck swellings ( enlarged lymph nodes)? Do you have any symptoms of a heart burn or reflux?
It would be a good idea to get a CBC done.
An infectious mononucleosis would present with a sore throat and can be worsened by Amoxicillin. It may good to do a throat swab culture and sensitivity if it was not done before. It would show if a strep infection is present now and which antibiotic is likely to be the good choices.
Do get back to me if you have further queries.
