Question: I had a trauma to my second toe on left foot ... stubbed... x-ray shows no fracture or dislocation but referred pain and swelling is present. Injury was three nights ago. I am alternating hot and cold and taped the toe to the next one. and am elevating it..anything else you can suggest ?

Brief Answer:
You can take a pin killer orally.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
You are already taking adequate precautions. It is likely to be a soft tissue injury. In case there is a persistent swelling with pain in the toe at rest then a hematoma or an infection needs to be ruled out after a direct examination by a physician. Taking a oral pain killer will also help.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.
