Brief Answer:
Analgesics with hot bag fomentation

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for the query.

I have gone through the description provided by you. The discolouration you have mentioned over the knees, I feel would be bluish in colour. If yes, then it is due to blood accumulation in that area due to injury also leading to swelling.

I hope he is walking around. If not and has difficulty in walking, then it would be better to get an X ray of both the knees to rule out any fracture.

You can give him hot bag fomentation over the knees which will help in relieving the pain and also the swelling. Continue applying Iodex and you can give him analgesics like paracetamol for pain.

The pain and the swelling should reduce gradually within a week. If not then a physical examination by a GP or an Orthopedician would be helpful.

Hope this answers your query. If any further clarifications, will be happy to help you.

Regards.
