Thanks for posting your query.

After draining an abscess , you should have been put on an Antibiotic course . Otherwise the infection will not subside and will spread like what is happening to you.

Yes you do need to go to ER because examination has to be done and if required further drainage of pus has to be done. Along with that , also get yourself started on Antibiotic course.

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarifications feel free to ask .

Regards.

I am on antibiotics clindamycin 3 times a day 150mg. I've been taking pain meds as well. My body is aching really bad, arms ,legs, Neck/back and hip joints. I have just recently started aching...why? And that sign of something bad?

Brief Answer:
You need a different Antibiotic.

Detailed Answer:
HI

Thanks for the follow up.

Well good to know that you have been put on Antibiotic , but if your infection is still spreading mean either the antibiotic is not working or the dose is inadequate.

I would recommend you meet your doctor and get started on a different antibiotic ( Preferably Augmentin ) . Also if at all there is still pus left in the wound ask them to send for Pus culture sensitivity test. This test will give us an idea on which is the right antibiotic for your problem .

Coming to your body pains it could be due to general weakness ( due to antibiotic ) or the infection in your butt might have spread into the blood causing pain all over the body.

You can take Combiflam or Tyelenol for that, once your infection comes to control these pain also will subside automatically.

Hope this information was useful to you.
