Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome back on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that your symptoms are not related to any cardiac disorder.

All your performed tests indicate a perfectly normal heart function and structure. Coronary artery disease has been excluded too.

So, there is nothing to worry about your heart!

The pain characteristics that you describe indicate possible nerve pain (like a cervical bulging intervertebral disc) or may be explained by fibromyalgia.

I would recommend consulting with your attending physician and performing some other tests:

- a cervical spine X ray study
- a nerve conduction study to examine the nerves in your limbs for possible nerve compression
- inflammation tests (PCR, sedimentation rate)
- a cervical spine CT scan or MRI may be needed if suspicions of a possible nerve compression are raised from the above mentioned tests.

But, if all these tests result normal, you should consider fibromyalgia as the main cause of all your symptoms. You should know that this disorder may mimic a lot of symptoms. But the main issue is that it causes pain in different regions of the body, without any obvious cause (all the tests result normal).

You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.

I remain at your disposal whenever you have any other uncertainties.

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri

I would explain as follows:

Detailed Answer:
Hello again dear,

As the pain is in the arms or shoulder joint, it could also be related to a musculo-skeletal issue like an inflammatory disorder. Inflammation tests (which I recommended above) would help exclude this possibility.

From the other hand as the pain is in both arms, it could be related to a nerve compression in the cervical spine. You should know that the nerves which travel through the arms originate in this region of the spinal cord. Sometimes, when intervertebral discs are displaced or from any other lesions (like cysts), these nerves can be compressed, leading to pain in one or both arms.

That is why I recommended the above mentioned tests.

But, if all these tests result normal, you should consider fibromyalgia as the main underlying cause of your troubles (because it is a diagnosis of exclusion, which means that this diagnosis is establish when all other possible causes are excluded). There is not any specific test for this diagnosis.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask me again!

Wishing a nice weekend,

Dr. Iliri
