Brief Answer:
Taking medicine is temporary solution; consult doctor if symptoms persist

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. Taking pain relief medicines is an emergency situation to give you immediate relief.

2. A complete clinical examination with other laboratory investigations and ultrasound scan is always required to confirm any suspected causes in the kidney which might give you a pain.

3. It is also possible that any other structure in the area might be inflamed and the kidney has nothing to do with it. This is because kidney relate pain is usually felt along the sides and radiating downwards.

4. Since there is a swelling which is sensitive to touch, any condition involving the muscles or nerves in the abdominal wall also might be a possibility.

5. My suggestion is to take a pain relief oral medicine and apply a muscle relaxant in the hurting area and consult a doctor over the next couple of days should the symptoms persist or worsen overnight.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
