Question: I am a sixty year old healthy Registered nurse work full time. About thee o'clock every day by legs stat to feel like they are on fire and very restless. My knees feel like there iS an inflating BP cuff in them. I can only relieve it BYwalking. IT CONTINUES DOWN MY LEGS TO MY FEET AND GREAT TOES. tHE BOTTOMS OF MY FEET FEEL LIKE I AM WALKING ON ROCKS, I TAKE MIRAPAX 0.5 TWO TABS AT 5:00PM ABOUT 50 % OF THE TIME I GET RELIEFE. bUT THE LAST FEW NIGHT THE JUMPING AND PAIN HAS BEEN WICKED. wHEN I GET UP IN THE AM IT IS GONE UNTILL ABOUT 300PM WHEN IT STARTS AGAIN. IFEEL IT MAYBE MORE THAN RLS BECAUSE IT HAS PROGRESSED OVER THE LAST SIX MONTHS. I DON'T KNOW IF I NEED A NEUOROLOGIST OR NOT .I AM NOT DIABETIC. NO SWELLING AT ALL GOOD PULSES AND NO DISCOLORATION IN EITHER LEG OR FEET

Drugs like, ropinirole or, Mirapex (Pramipexole) are approved by the Food and Drug so you can continue it .Administration for the treatment of moderate to severe RLS.gabapentin, may work for some people with RLS.Narcotic medications can relieve mild to severe symptoms, but they may be addicting if used in high doses.You can consult your doctor to add some more medication.

Some lifestyle modifications are useful for restless leg syndrome like,
Sleep better by sticking to a regular sleep schedule.
Exercise in moderation. .
Cut back on caffeine. .
Avoid alcohol and cigarettes. Consider dietary supplements. Check with a doctor or nutritionist to find out if you’re low on iron, vitamin B, folic acid, or magnesium. Deficiencies can bring on RLS.
Try practicing relaxation techniques such as yoga and meditation. Stress can make RLS symptoms worse. Daily stretching and meditation can promote relaxation and alleviate (RLS).

Other suggestions
massaging the cramped muscle with your hands or oil.
Drinking plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration.
Stretching your leg muscles or riding a stationary cycle.
Taking diet rich in calcium and potassium or oral supplements of the same.
Check your vit B12 and Vit D 3 levels.

Physiotherapy like ultrasound and tens will help.
