Suggest Treatment For Pain Due To Incisional Hernia

default
Posted on Mon, 20 Oct 2014
Question: I am 2 years post partum and periodically will experience sensation of something moving up under my ribs. This happens whenever I try to do a downward dog yoga pose or unnatural contortion - never happened before my pregnancy. It's not painful but scary - a rolling sensation like an organ just rolled up under my rib due to the contortion and then falls back into place. I am very athletic and play tennis several times a week - this is never an issue so I don't think physical fitness is the issue. During my pg my daughter's foot was severely jammed up my left rib. I feel like maybe this is related. Any ideas? Should I worry this is heart related?

Brief Answer:
Might be incisional hernia

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Please let me know if your delivery was a normal delivery or a cesarean section, or did you have any history of any abdominal surgery in the past.

If yes, it might be a hernia related to the incisional site, as the symptoms you mentioned like rolling sensation near your ribs and then falling back into place, or any other hernia , as it can be reducible.

So please check for yourself if that thing is reducible or becomes prominent on coughing, and importantly please consult your surgeon , get yourself thoroughly examined and get an USG done to rule out the same.

Hope I could help you.
Thank you.

I went thru 24 hours of labor and 2 hours of pushing but ultimately had a c section. It doesn't hurt when I cough. Even when still and while not hurting I have a subtle sensation of something just under my left rib.
