Posted on Fri, 24 Oct 2014
Question: My mother has had left occipital pain and pain on left side of forehead radiating to left side of head for two days. Her left eyelid is droopy. She has not fallen but has a slight swelling and slight bruising and a red area on left side of forehead. Tylenol does not stop the pain. No other stroke symptoms. Pupils appear equal to me. She is 86 with a history of small strokes in the basal ganglion and partially controlled hypertension. No itching. No discharge. No eye redness. Is this an emergency? She is seeing a GP tomorrow.

Brief Answer:
if the pain is unbearable go to ER...

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX!

I'm so sorry for the situation your mom is in. If her headache isn't stopped by Tylenol and it's unbearable by her than this is an emergency. In this case I recommend going immediately to ER.

Otherwise If headache is tolerable by your mother then you could wait till tomorrow to see your primary care doctor.

Hope this was of help!
