Brief Answer:
Internal injury to knee likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The pain in the knees is suggestive of an internal injury. The giving out of the knee can be due to a another ligament tear.
It is best to give rest to your knees, do a hot compress, avoid weight bearing on the knees and use a knee brace all the time to have a complete relief. This should reduce the pain in next few days.
Meanwhile try to contact your orthopedician for a direct examination and stronger prescription medicines.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
