Question: Hi
I kind of twisted my lower back washing my car this weekend.
This morning I tried to stretch out and when I got to work I had a pain over my right hip?
It is still tender there, what to do?
Thanks, XXXXXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

I am sorry you have twisted your low back. Without the advantage of examining you, it is hard to know specifically which muscles are strained.

The hip joint itself is near the groin and gives groin area pain so I imagine that is not what you are talking about but rather the side of the pelvis perhaps?

Here are some exercises for the region that may help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXrepL6HNJ0

Cold application can help in the first 72 hours, but if it feels like it is going into a knot/spasm, then moist heat would be better.

If you have no history of stomach problems with NSAIDs or other reasons not to take them, try taking an Advil after food 3 x/day for the next few days.

Since the injury happened when you were bent over or twisting, sitting for prolonged periods may make it cramp up more, so get up and walk as frequently as you can.

If none of this helps, then do go in to see your doctor.

I hope this information helps and you are feeling better soon.
