Question : I have bilateral pain in my shins, thighs and sometimes in my hips, and now I have started having pain in my tail bone area. it is a dull ache that sometimes throbs and gets worse with sitting and terrible when lying down. It has started to wake me up at night and I have to get up and take acetamenophen. I am 62 and active, a nurse practitioner, and have been to a neurologist and my internist. I do have RLS and take gabapentine and requip at night. This pain is getting worse by the day.

                                    Brief Answer:
Lumbar spondylosis
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
From the history you have given me it looks like the pain is originating from the lumbar spine area which is most likely to be lumbar spondylosis. I recommend you to undergo CT spine of the lumbar region as soon as possible. Here are my suggestions to you
1. Acetaminophen is a weak pain killer, I advice you to take something stronger like aceclofenac with a muscle relaxant combination.
2. Apply topical painkillers like diclofenac gel for instant pain relief
3. Do not lift heavy weights
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
I wish you good health and a speedy recovery
Regards
