Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the query,

I understand how distressing this could be, especially when it involves a limb and I am sorry for that. To better ascertain the situation, it might be interesting to get a few things clear. Is this the first time you are experiencing this? For how long has this been going on? did you experience any traumatic event before it started? since it started, is the intensity of the pain the same all the time you move it, is it decreasing or increasing with time. ? Have you felt any lymph nodes around your armpit or experience any fever? Any masses around there?

In my opinion, the most common probable cause should be simply mechanical or traumatic. A poor sleeping position at times or wrong movement at some point can cause some strain and produce such symptoms. They should however fade away within a couple of days with appropriate analgesics. The associated numbness could be as a result of compression of a nerve maybe during the wrong movement or poor sleeping position.

I suggest simple analgesics like Acetaminophen for a start, if it persists, it might be some other thing requiring further examination.

I really do not think , though also possibilities, that conditions like infections, ruptured cysts or masses could explain this for now. The opinion of your physician should be sought in case pain fails to fade out with appropriate analgesics and resting of the limb.

Kind regards as I wish you the best of health. I will be glad to read on any further questions or clarifications you might need with regards to your health concern.

Wishing you good health.
