Question: I HAD A BACK TOOTH EXTRACTED 2 WKS AGO. A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER I DEVELOPED DRY SOCKET. I HAVE HAD THAT BEFORE. THE ORAL SURGEON PUT ME ON ABT & PAIN MED. A LUMP NET TO MY EXTRACTED TOOTH DEVELOPED/VERY PAINFUL/SWOLLEN GLANDS UNDER MY JAW & PAIN UP MY FACE. I WENT BACK 2X & HE PUT MED INSIDE MY SOCKET & SAID I"D BE PAIN FREE IN 2 WKS. Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain dry socket takes time to get resolved when the unhealed socket gradually heals with reduced inflammation and pain..

Please answer the following questions so that I can guide you better..

1. Is there any improvement in pain or the severity of pain is similar?
2. Are you still not taking Plavix or have started?
3. Do you also have any swelling over the face?

Please revert back with answers..

Thanks and regards.

Brief Answer:
Continue with treatment..

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome back..

The details that you provided indicates that there has been Cellulitis due to inflammation caused by Dry socket..

But as the pain and swelling is improving you should continue to get the dressings changed every alternate day to make the socket heal faster..
Also you need to continue taking antibiotics and anti-inflammatory painkillers for relief..
Do cool compresses over the swelling..
Also talk to your dentist and also Physician about starting Plavix aeit is sufficient time that you stopped taking the blood thinner Plavix and after their consent you should start taking the same..

Any further questions are welcome..

Regards..
