Brief Answer:
Osteoporosis/Radiculopathy/Neuropathy to rule out.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being here on Healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar, a neurologist, here to answer your query.

Clinical summary-Your mother is having below hip pain with burning sensation(with current like sensations) in feet.
My interpretation-
1)Radiculoneuropathy-Burning sensations in feet with current like paresthesias commonly result from neuropathy.Proximal limb pain(like around hip) can be a result of radiculopathy.Radiculopathy can occur in old age due to degenerative spine disease.
2)Osteoporosis-Hip pain in old females very commonly result from osteoporosis.

Advice-
1)Get her physical examination done by a neurologist,so that he can make a plan of investigations according to the probable etiology-radiculopathy/neuropathy
2)Blood sugar-fasting and post prandial
3)Nerve conduction studies(after discussion with neurologist)
4)B/L Hip X-rays,Lumbosacral spine x-rays
5)Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) lumbosacral spine(if the neurologist feels the need after examination)
6)Serum Vitamin B12 levels.
7)Dexa scan(if neurological examination also lists osteoporosis as a possibility)

Current set of medications she is taking appears to be a fine prescription and presently she can continue with same medications, unless further investigations establish diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have follow-up questions,I shall be glad to answer else, please close the thread-rate it and write a review.
