Question : My 29 yr old daughter is having trouble urinating and having severe pain running from her back to across her abdomen. She is horrible about drinking fluids so I have been pushing fluids, but now she hasn't urinated since yesterday and it was just a drop so I feel horrible and I cant get her to go to ER. I was thinking this might be a UTI.....Any information you have would be very helpful. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
AKI needs to be ruled out including obstruction

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome

I appreciate your concern

Based on your description, it's unlikely to be UTI, alone. Acute kidney injury especially with post renal/obstructive causes need to be ruled out. A renal ultrasound is required along with renal function tests (urea +creatinine ) to determine further management, accordingly.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
