Question : I was riding my skateboard about a week ago and fell and landed on my arm. After I fell I iced it and suppressed the swelling and took Advil and the pain stopped. Since then ive avoided lifting weights and most of the pain has gone away. The pain started only when I bent my arm past 90 degrees and when i straightened my arm fully. Since then I have rested a lot and the swelling went down and now the pain doesnt occur when i bend my arm, only still when I straighten and it feels fine in between. I have been busy and have not been able to get it X-rayed but a majority of the pain has went away. Its just very dificult to lift weight but i have no problem with mobility of my elbow whatsoever. I honestly do not think I have a fracture because Ive fractured my wrist before and this has a different feeling. Moving my wrist and squeezing is not difficult either. I think it could either be a sprain or a bone bruise but due to my mobility and my ability to do things with my hand and move my arm I do not think its broken. I have iced it almost everday since and take advil twice a day and that helps with the pain a lot. But since pain has not gone away completely, should I be worried that its a fracture, or should I continue to ice it and take advil to reduce pain and the pain will go away naturally? Thanks in advance.

Brief Answer:
You need to get x rays as soon as possible

Detailed Answer:
Hello, I have studied your case. I think most probably you have soft tissue injury only. Still I would suggest you to get x ray as soon as possible. Because some time pain and swelling are less even then hairline fracture can be there. If treatment of hair line fracture is missed then it can cause pain for long time along with disabilities.
I would also suggest you to do hot water fomentation and not ice because ice is effective for first 24 to 48 hours only.
I hope this answer will be useful to you. Let me know if you have any other follow up questions.
Thanks

Do you reccomend a compression sleeve that i can wear until I can get in to get an X-Ray? Heat application seemed to help very much .
