Question: last 4 days I have had pains in my head and neck on the right side. now am having the same pains in the left side of my head and neck, but no longer in the right side. They feel sometimes like a little electric shock or a pin prick but my left neck feels sore and paining all the time even at night, just like last week it did on the right side of my neck behind my ear.

Brief Answer:
Consult an Orthopedic surgeon

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for the query under health care magic.I have read it & understand your concern.
The pain in head & neck since 4 days can be just a a tension head ache / stress to eyes due to changed refractory error/sprain or strain in neck muscles( stiff neck ) or occipital neuralgia caused by trauma / stiff neck resulting in irritation of occipital nerve/ pinching of nerve due to cervical spondylitis.
The pin prick or shock like feeling makes it more possibly due to cervical spondylitis. The age factor also favors this.
* In this context, I would suggest a consultation of an orthopedic surgeon for detailed examination & investigations to pin point the cause followed by specific treatment. Mostly pain & anti inflammatory medications, vitamin B12,calcium & vitamin D supplements. / muscle relaxants, ( local or oral ) , hot compresses, physiotherapy help. some non responding patients need surgery.
He may refer you to eye specialist if You need eye check up for refractory error.
Thus you would be relieved of the problem with expert advise.
I hope the answer to be both informative & helpful to you. Any follow up query is welcome.
Thanks.
