Question : I have heel pain that suddenly came on during night to the point that I can not bear any weight on my heel. It is a little red however does not show any signs of swelling that I can tell nor warmth to touch. It seem sto get a little better with Aleve but not all that much, seems to get worse at night and from the best that I can tell from symptoms seems to sound like gout with the exception that my big toe isn't effected, only the bottom of my heel. It is on my right side only however have had less severe episodes in the past that effected both heels. I am a 60 year old male overweight and diabetes and gout both run in my family. I have had prostrate cancer, but have my psa tested yearly and everything there has been ok. My question is first if I should see a doctor if there is anything more serious than gout that this could be and then what can I do other than ice, drinking water and taking the aleve that could help. I have order the uric acid reducers online but they will not arrive until tomorrow.

                                    Brief Answer:
This sounds like Plantar Fascitis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir,
Welcome to Health Care Magic and Thanks for the question.
Your symptoms do not sound anything like Gout. This seems like Plantar Fascitis, an inflammation that happens in the tissues of the heel.
You need to see a Surgeon. They can infiltrate a Steroid in the affected area and you will be relieved by that. But first you need to see a Surgeon who can examine you and diagnose what the problem is and then only it can be decided what treatment to follow.
Take care and do let me know if there are any queries on this issue.
