Brief Answer:
needs a little rest.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have read your query.

Your boyfriend is doing too much as per his age.

Its mostly a shifting pain, occurs mostly due to overactivity, taking no rest, fatigue of muscles.

If I have been his treating doctor, I would advise him to restrict his sports a little bit so that his body can take a rest.

Also morning pains which he is pointing out may be due to increase in serum uric acid which intern increases due to over activity example playing sports aggressively.

So I advise him to get his serum uric acid level, ESR, CRP levels checked and send me the report.

Till then have tab.aceclofenac100mg+serratiopeptidase15mg thrice a day. It is a safe drug relatively and easily available at the pharmacy.

Have plenty of liquid, fresh fruits.

Do stretching exercises only.

Avoid high protein diet, smoking and drinking.

I hope it helps.

Thanks,
