Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Right Abdomen

default
Posted on Tue, 5 Jul 2016
Question: i have moderate pain in the right side of my abdomen and back... flank area. Dr. said my urine is clear and my blood test levels all came back normal. I had a cat scan of the abdomen yesterday because dr detected a mass in my abdomen located in front of the painful area. I am anxiously waiting on results but since blood levels came back normal, is that a good sign, even though I am still in pain?

Brief Answer:
I will wait for the results of the CT scan!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this pain and the report of a possible mass that has kept you worried. With normal initial findings, this is good news and keeps us more hopeful. However, it is more prudent to hear what the scan say before we go celebrating. This wouldn't be long and I will suggest that you stay positive and know that no matter what the report says, we can only solve a known problem and that would have been a major step in the right direction. In any case, the report or an abnormal finding or not is a win win for us. Didn't your doctor prescribe something to help with the pain? If he didn't, try to take both Ibuprofen and Tylenol for relief while we identify the root cause of this pain and treat fully.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Above all, thanks for using our services.

Brief Answer:
A mass always raises teh question of a tumor!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

A mass will for sure make us to look at possible tumors A majority of tumors are benign and others malignant. How this plays depends on the exact location, how much time has evolved, symptoms and findings on exam. In any case, it would be nice to have results and act accordingly. Speculation is often not the best. There are times doctors feel they felt a tumor and imaging says no. As such, there is nothing concrete at this time to base sustained arguments on.

I wish you well.
