Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Pain in TMJ can be due to arthritis, muscle spasm, dislocation or an infection in the area. It can also happen due to injury to the teeth or jaw, misalignment of the teeth or jaw, teeth grinding, poor posture, stress, and gum chewing. An X-ray of the area and a local examination can help in detecting the exact cause.
Till then it is best to take a mild pain killer and do a hot compress in the area. Avoid the painful movements and consult an orthopedician for proper treatment.
Physical therapy and acupuncture also help in addition to the medical treatment.
I hope this answers your query.
