Question : I swallowed a Doxycyline tablet the wrong way last night and have had very pronounced pain in the right side of the throat ever since. I can swallow food (painfully) and drink, but it has me concerned, especially since I am immune-supressed.The right side of the throat was where the pill seemed to get 'stuck' and the pain has not subsided since last night. The pain started almost immediately after taking the pill.
Brief Answer:
Need not worry
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,welcome to HCM forum.
This need not be worried much.
Take simple analgesics like acetaminophen 650mg or ibuprofen 400mg thrice daily for 3-5 days.
Do warm saline gargles 6-8 times a day.
Keep good oral hygiene.
Most probably, these measures will control the situation in few days.
If the pain does not come down in 2 days,or if you feel fever or bad smell/taste in the throat, kindly see your doctor as we will have look for any infection and treat accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing for a faster cure,
Thank you.
