Question : My husband (45) is experiencing pain on his his lower right abdomen that travels down to his groin. His words " when ever I hit a bump in the road I feel like someone has kicked me in the nuts, but if I grab them it doesn't hurt." He has been diagnosed with an ulcer, is on medication, and they recently changed his pain meds from an ibruphrophen narcotic to a ancentamentaphine one. Also, 10 years ago, he had severe diverticulitis. After 9 months of in and out of the hospital and many antibiotics, exploratory surgery was required by MUSC XXXXXXX where they found that his colon had perforated and grown around his bladder. He had 7 inches removed, but no bag was needed afterwards. What could be the issue? A Hernia? Prostrate? Colon?

Brief Answer:
You are quite right ma'am, all 3 are possibilities

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Well ma'am, quite honestly while going through your query I was thinking of a hernia as most of his description does match that of a hernia but as you must know very well by now that a hernia can only be suspected and either immediately ruled out or confirmed with the help of a physical examination and/or an ultrasound examination.

In my opinion, the best possible thing right now would be :

+Abdominal and pelvic ultrasound: Can diagnose a hernia and prostate related issues

or

+CT abdomen and pelvis: Can accurately diagnose/rule out colon related issues, prostate and hernia

So please do consider visiting either a diagnostic centre or a hospital for the above mentioned investigations to reach a rapid and accurate diagnosis. But all the three options listed by you (showing your grasp and experience with the medical field) can be possibilities.

I hope you find my response helpful. Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
