Question : I am having in my left arm that radiates up to my shoulder and neck. I had a pacemaker put in 5 weeks ago. I laid down most of yesterday and the pain subsided. I have not laid down today and the pain is back and just as bad. The pain is not in the muscle, i can not get to it (to rub it). It feels as though its down in the bone. The doctor Friday suggested that i take anti-inflamatory, which i have been doing.

Brief Answer:
Muscular pain likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The pain in the arm radiating to the shoulder and neck that subsided on resting is likely to be a muscular or posture related pain. This can be caused by a muscle spasm or cervical spondylosis or a shoulder tendonitis.
In addition to the anti inflammatory that you are already taking you need to take a muscle relaxant, do a hot fomentation and avoid using a pillow. Avoid extreme neck positions watching TV or working on computer for long hours. Taking frequent rest breaks will help.
In case the pain is intense with breathlessness or palpitation then do consult your cardiologist to rule out any cardiac causes.
I hope this answers your query.
