Question: Hello, my 4 week old daughter has what appears to be internal hemorrhoids. When she cries or stains to go to the bathroom they appear the entire way around her anus. She screams when she passes gas and attempts to ha a BM. What can I safely put on the hemorrhoids until I can get her to her doctor?

Brief Answer:
Use Annovate cream

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

You can apply Annovate cream topically. In the meantime, continue breastfeeding. It would be preferable to avoid formula feeds since they precipitate constipation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:
Breast milk is produced based on the demand of the child

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Most formula milks are cow milk based and hence difficult to digest. Moreover they make the child more prone to constipation, complications and infections.

Mother's breast milk is produced on the demand of the baby. Hungrier the baby, more vigorous is the suck. More is the suck, more is the amount of breast milk produced. Giving formula automatically reduces the demand of the baby and thereby the production of breast milk. Switch back to exclusive breast feeding and the production will increase automatically. All you need to do is to monitor the urine output. If the frequency is more than 6 times in 24 hours, you would know that the amount of feeding is adequate.

You need to keep yourself properly hydrated (drink plenty of water and milk) if you want to increase your breast milk production. Certain medicines like Reglan (Metoclopramide) also help in increasing the breast milk production.

In case you still need to give formula milk, give it in diluted form.

Hope I have answered your query.
