Hi my dear,

I am sorry for the situation you are going through.

1. Pain is a common characteristic of shingles. OTC pain-killers like ibuprofen, or naproxen can help. If they will fail, then, can consult with your doctor to prescribe other potent pain-killers like gabapentin.

2. The nerves are not permanently damages after contracting Shingles. While it is true that the pain or symptoms will last for up to 4 weeks after the first appearance.

3. With regards to vitamins, they can be used to :
- reinforce your immune system which is often weaken during the shingles attack
- to help regenerate the nerves from the episode

Vitamins of B group are often advised together with vit.C and vit.E as potent anti-oxidants.
