Question : Yesterday afternoon I came home for work very tired and irritable. This morning I woke up with a stiff and painful neck that got worse throughout the day. I have now developed a fever and have just noticed a numb lump in my mouth above my top lip?

It might be due to infection, but it is difficult to say presently. Just continue with paracetamol and wait ....if fever persist, vomiting/headache/ stiffness occurs - you need to go to a doctor for evaluation.
Lump may be a coincidental or may be a mild skin infection...
