Question : My husband fell and hit his jaw on the night stand now it is very painful to swallow and his voice is hoarse will this clear on it's own thank you
Brief Answer:
he should see an ENT right away
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Such injuries with hoarseness and swallowing problems may be attributed to serious injuries like laryngeal fractures, which may evolve into life threatening conditions like airway obstruction. Inspection of the larynx by an ENT (ear, nose, throat) specialist and perhaps a ct scan will be very helpful. In some cases only watchful waiting is advised. In other cases surgical approaches have to be employed.
I hope I've helped!
