Question: I just suffered a very hard blow to the left side of my head right above left eyebrow by htting sharp edge of car window. normally i would just deal with the pain and the bump on skull and go on realizing what a stupid thing i had done to myself but this seemed diff. because i did not have bump on scull but a fluid builup looking very strange and bout half inch in depth between outer skin and skull which by next day spread over and above crease in eyelid and down left side of nose being the blackest eye i h have ever seen.
The weird swelling went down by spreading out further over left side of forehead and turned a slight whitesh color and now skull has developed hard not also a day latter. should i be concerned? please help it will be grearly appreciated. thank you. my email is YYYY@YYYY and phone no. 830 225 0199 and name is denice

Brief Answer:
It can be because of hematoma.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care magic.

I am Dr. Shama and I will be answering your question.

I reviewed your history. It seems from the history that you are having black eye and hard area at the site of impact following a hard blow to the head above left eye brow.

Black eye occurs in injuries to the head above the level of the eye brow because of collection of blood in the layers of the skin of the eyelids. This does not requires any treatment and it subsides slowly as the blood gets absorbed. Applying cold compression will help.

The hard area can be a hematoma as a result of clotted blood and no need to worry about it as it will also resolve. But if there is pain over the area, presence of double vision, limitation or restriction of eye movements, blurring or diminution of vision you need to consult your doctor for examination to rule out fracture of the bones of the orbit and face or injury to the extraocular muscles of the eye or the nerves supplying them.

If you are not having any of the above mentioned symptoms then no need to worry as it can be a simple hematoma and will resolve.

Hope I have answered your question and the information is helpful to you.
