Suggest Treatment For Painful Ulcers That Oozes Out Clear Pus

Posted on Mon, 9 Feb 2015
Question: I have had a skin condition that started 7 months ago. I came in contact with several dogs with mange. Drs say that didn't start the problem. After a few days I developed large painful ulcers all over my body oozing clear pus. My dr treated me w/Lindane 3 times thinking it was scabies. Didn't help. Saw a dermatologist who diagnosed roundworm & treated with Ivermectin. I began seeing 1/4" white wormlike things coming through lesions. I began having severe abdominal pain. Went to ER. I had severe diarrhea & vomiting & when this happened I saw thousands of black specks in stool and vomit. The Dr used tweezers & pulled a large white accordion like worm from my rectum. Blood tests showed signs of kidney malfunction. No treatment & even though specimen was sent to lab, no ID was given. Dr said it was a parasite. A couple days later I became very ill & called 911. My bowels were dying & my kidneys shut down. I had total body sepsis with blood pressure of 50/40. I was in ICU for a couple of weeks. Drs did not think any parasite existed but had no explanation for why this happened. I had Lyme Disease several yrs ago & never fully recovered. My immune system weakened. I'm seeing a new dr who did extensive testing & diagnosed me with parasites & recurring Lyme. Treating me with Albendazole & Mendinazole. I still feel ill and find tiny black specks in my skin & on my clothes. I do not know what they are, but stages can slice my skin to form new lesions. I'm very concerned. I had 2 psych evaluations & both concluded I'm not delusional. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Brief Answer:
I suggest a possibility of pediculosis corporis

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

I have gone through your query and I have tried to understand your problem. I will try to help you with your problem.

I could gather that one thing that is bothering you now is black specks on skin and on clothes.

I would suggest a likely possibility of 'pediculosis corporis' or 'body lice'

However I would request you to upload a few representative photographs so that I am able to substantiate my diagnosis.
Make sure that you post clear and focused photographs which clearly show me these specks that are concerning you.

I would like to know whether do you have any symptoms like skin itching?

Have the painful ulcers healed or are they still persisting?

I would also like to know your age and sex? Do you live alone or do you have other family members staying with you?

Do you have any other medical problem? and are you on some medications?

My dr also suspects toxic mold infection. Is this possible? Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Unlikely a mold would cause serious skin involvement

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Molds are mostly implicated in causing allergies like asthma, rhinitis, sneezing etc and it is unlikely that molds would cause ulcers or something like that, provided the individual is not seriously immunocompromised e.g has HIV or terminal illness but not in normal individuals or those who with only a weak immune system.

I have very little itching. I do feel crawling sensations and inflammation. The lesions are not healing well and are painful as well as the surrounding tissue. The occasional itching is usually around the waistband. I do not scratch.
I shower everyday & have been washing clothes in hot water, adding Borax. I wash clothes after each wearing & put them away clean. I still see tiny black specks on them, about the size of a period at the end of a sentence. Do they need to be thrown away? I wash bed linens everyday. I am 62 yrs old & live alone. I am female.I've been vacuuming & disinfecting surfaces. My meds are for blood pressure & anxiety. My head is not affected. I do get low grade fevers as well as low temps like 95.4. I get fine rashes on chest and face. At times I feel nauseous. Why wouldn't the dermatologists pick up on this? Could it be a mite? I will try to download a picture. I'm not a technology expert so how would I send the picture to you? And, how do I handle this? I've been taking Epsom salt baths & notice black specks, slime & other debris coming off my skin. It's disgusting. Please tell me how to rid myself & my home from these awful things. If I left my home, how long would it take for lice & nits to die? Still don't understand why the drs who examined me couldn't make the diagnosis. I also believe they are in my car. Have noticed leathery patches of skin, but don't itch. I can feel a very light sensation of something softly landing on me especially near my nose and mouth. Other times, I feel sharp jabs. Can you help? Thank you! Again, how do I download pics & get them to you?
