I think there is need to see a psychiatrist

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

Although mental as well as physical examination of the patient is required before I make any diagnosis but provisionally I feel there is possibility of delusional parasitosis.

This is because I have encountered atleast 20 middle aged females in my psychiatry practice with almost similar complaints when they suffered with delusional parasitosis. Most of these patients have normal functioning in other domain of life except the feeling of infestation and reaction to this belief.

I understand that it may not be acceptable for you but with background knowledge of not working of any medication I feel it will not be wrong to see a psychiatrist. I need to acknowledge that delusional parasistosis is rare before 50 years of age and that makes me to reconsider my diagnosis despite having compelling evidence.

In my view it will be appropriate to see a psychiatrist without any delay as untreated condition finds it roots and leads to more resistance to medications.

I hope this helps you.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for my future patients.

Brief Answer:
I understand

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for reverting back to me.

I never said that you are delusional but the presentation is quite similar to delusional parasitosis. Having said this I feel there is no harm in obtaining an opinion from a local psychiatrist as you have tried many things in past and nothing worked till date.

I hope this clarifies.
Thanks and regards
