Question : Hello,
This is sort of a follow up question to one that I asked about a month ago (about fatty liver/upper right abdominal pain)...
So in that question I asked if it was normal to "feel your liver" or any organ hurt after eating something or drinking something heavy (like coffee or soda) related to fatty liver disease. The doctor said it wasn't and listed items that it would likely be. My question today is would having IBS or an ulcer (items she suggested) cause sharp upper right quadrant pain accompanied by nausea?
This is rather frightening that when I eat sometimes, this upper right pain begins and now incites nausea (but even this morning, it's hurting and there's nausea without even eating).
I would just fear it being something timorous or something incredibly serious. I should mention that i am overweight, but figured that would be a possible necessary fact to know.
Thank you

Hi and thank you for asking on HCM!
I read carefully all your concerns and I can say as follows :
1.You are reporting that you have stomach pain after eating. These symptoms are related with :
- stomach ulcer /gastritis
- gallbladder issues
- IBS (rarley)
2. If I were your treating doctor I would suggest to do do upper endoscopy and abdominal ultrasound.
3. Meantime I would suggest to use PPI's like Prilosec and antacids like gaviscon.
To stop nausea and vomiting you can use metoclopramide three time per day for two weeks.
Hope it was helpful to you!

Hi back,
Yes the right abdominal pain may especially after meal may be related with the causes that I mentioned above.
To my opinion you need to be examined and after that to get a more accurate opinion.
Hope it was helpful to you.
