Suggest Treatment For Persistent Chills, Sweating And Abdominal Pain

Thanks, XXXXXXX xxxxxx
Infections are common causes of the symptoms you mention
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thank you for asking at HCM.
I carefully read your question and understand your concern.
Sweating and chills are very general symptoms that do not show of a specific organ or system that might be affected. There are several causes of them.
I do not see much in your questions other compaints like cough, secretions with cough, chest pain, urinary symptoms, diarrhea or vomiting, weakness, ect.
Infection is generally the most common cause of chills, sweating and stomach pain, especially these symptoms being for a short time it really favors it. It is hard to determine what kind of infection with this amount of information as you do not have specific symptoms.
Rarely these symmtoms might be caused of a rare lung infection like tuberculosis- it might cause night sweats and weight loss with fever.
A rare cause is also cancer. Again I did not read any spefic symptoms to point a certain possible organ related to this either.
On the other hand due to your age you can have lung or urinary infections without many specific symptoms.
So to conclude I would recommend to have some tests done like:
1. CBC and ERS and/or PCR- these will tell us if you are fighting any infection. It would sometimes give information if your body is fighting some type of cancer also.
2. urinalysis with urineculture- these will be important to rule out urinary infections
3. Chest xray- this is to check the lungs for any infection there. It would rule out pneumonia and tuberculosis infection also
4. a check for occult blood test and colonoscopy are routine checks that should be done every 5-10 years after age 55 and if you have not done these it might be a good idea to have them checked to screen for bowel tumors.
These are the basic tests we do to check a patient with general nonspecific symptoms as you are having. You will also need a general physical examinaiton as part of the medical evaluation.
After that general examination your doctor might ask for other tests that he might find necessary to be done.
I hope this is helpful and answers to your question.
Kind regards,
Dr Antoneta Zotaj
