Question : I had a cold and cannot get rid of the cough. It has been three weeks now.

Hi,

Thanks for your query.

Cold and cough are mostly due to viral infection. It usually is self limiting and will disappear by 7 to 10 days. If cough persists beyond it is an indication of super added bacterial infection.

You will need antibiotics to get rid of the infection causing cough. The best suited for such cough is Levoflox 500mg taken once daily in the morning after food for 5 days. Also, taking syrup Benadryl CR 10 ml trice daily can control the cough to major extent.
