Question : Hello Doctor, my son is 2 years old and has cold, cough and fever for the past 3days. Now, cough got reduced and no fever right now. But, from the last 2 nights he was snoring badly, it was a continuous snoring and he was breathing with his nose only. I suspect that was because of the phlegm(may be?) which got accumulated in lungs. It was scary, could you suggest us what to do now? We have told our Pediatrician and he says lungs are clear and snoring was because of the cold.

                                    Brief Answer:
Upper respiratory tract infection
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone through the details provided. Your child seems to have upper respiratory tract infection. Such a presentation is usually due to viral cause and it irrespective of treatment it usually takes a week or so. You have rightly identified phlegm to be the cause of the snoring. You need to give steam inhalation. Water in form of vapor will reach deep inside and would help in diluting the cough and would thus provide relief. He also needs to drink plenty of water.
Please be patient. Let me know if I could help further.
