Question : I was diagnosed with DCIS one year ago. It was throughout my left breast. I chose to have bilateral mastectomy with success. No additional treatment needed. Is it possible for DCIS to metastasis after surgery? I'm ask because I feel a lump on my sternum near the suture line. I noticed about one month ago. I've had a cough for about 4 weeks. Last week my left knee began to ache as though I twisted it. Now the pain is continues. With movement, pain level becomes about 8-9 and wakes me up at night. My knee is moderately swollen and slightly warm. I plan to return to my primary next week. I just had lab done. My MCV and alkaline phosphate is slightly elevated. Are these s/s nothing or could it be connected to cancer?
Brief Answer:
Hello dear. Hormonal therapy is required
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. I have gone through the details. So post bilateral mrm, hormonal therapy with tamoxifen is required to reduce the risk of recurrence. Local recurrence can be there and hormonal therapy prevents recurrence. Nodule on sternum needs to be examined for recurrence by needle aspiration test. Your knee pain seems unrelated to cancer. Hope it solves your query.
Thanks and regards
