I am sorry to hear that you have had a problem with a chronic cough. This chronic cough could still be related to GERD but since it has not improved after taking Omeprazole I would recommend that you seek medical attention. You provider may need to do additional testing like a chest x-ray or pulmonary function tests to determine if you have any pulmonary problems. You may also need a gastroscopy to check your vocal cords again and your esophagus.
