Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I am Dr.Barani and I am pleased to assist you.
There are many different causes for hiccups.
Since you had cough prior to the development of hiccups, pleurisy (inflammation of the lining of the lungs) might be the cause. Chest Xray may be taken to confirm it.

The most common cause however is a bloated stomach. You can take Pan-D twice a day before breakfast for relief. If hiccups do not subside, consult your doctor for tests and prescription medications.

You can also try home remedies like
-Breathing into a paper bag
- Drinking a glass of water quickly
-Gargling with ice water
-Holding your breath
- Sipping cold water

Let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards,
Dr.Barani
