Question: I just had catarat surgery on my right eye I can see now afar but i have been esperiencing dizziness and nausea today is my third day also I have catarat on my left eye could it be a descompensation of eyesight and my brain is rejecting this situation. Also on the right eye I see to the from the middle of the eye to the far right a blurry vision and less light. I have an appointment with my surgeeon ophtalmologist in 4 days. Now I need reading glasses to read books the newspaper etc. Could the diziness and nausea be caused by yhe difference reading between my right eye which is the one I had catarst surgery and my left eye? Do I need urgent new glasses? Could glasses for the left eye be the answer. Please help.

Brief Answer:
Non ocular reason for dizziness.

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.

Usually in our practice we do not see a situation like this, where brain takes time in accepting good vision in the other eye. Majority of patients are happy.

Apparently some other reason is to be looked into for reasons of nausea and dizziness common ones at your stage being spondylitis,or intracranial or perhaps gastric cause. This is unlikely to be due to eye.

I personally wait for 3 to 4 weeks before giving glasses for reading, other than special circumstances like a one eyed patient. As these early reading glasses may change soon, so the glasses for you to be given now is for ease of reading and not for dizziness.

You should have an appointment with your GP or internist for nausea and dizziness.

Let me know if there's any queries.

Dear Dr. Can you explain what is spondylites? AlsoI see when I look up with my right eye I see my eyelashes like long black hairs which now I realize are the upper eye lashes in my right eye where I had surgery two days ago. Is this a misplaced ocular implant?
Thank you XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Non ocular discomfort

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Good of you to get back to me.

In spondylitis vertebrae in your neck grow and fuse to reduce flexibility and press upon the nerves coming out of vertebral column.

The eyelashes you see is not the misplaced implant but may be floaters, which are black particles which you see floating around in the eye and are harmless.
