Question : My son went to the doctor yesterday and we found out he has a double ear infection. so the dr. prescribed him amoxicillin well now he seems to be very irrational and I'm not sure if the amoxicillin will cause that because before he would cry and then fall asleep but now he is screaming more and more. he is hitting and throwing things

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
While it is an uncommon side effect, agitation is listed in the literature for amoxicillin. I haven't seen that happen myself though. I am also wondering if there may be more pressure on his ear drums right now from fluid from the infection, or if his tummy is upset from the antibiotic.
If he is crying and screaming considerably more, I recommend calling his doctor to discuss this. He may need to be seen again.
