Brief Answer:
You need proper antibiotic course.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Greetings from Dr Divakara P
Thanks for posting your query.

Fever and cough indicates infection either in throat or in lungs. This infection can be due to virus or bacteria.

Viral infection doesn't last for more than 3-5 days and hence it seems like a bacterial infection.

A proper antibiotic is required to cure bacterial infection. But sometimes the antibiotic given may not cure the infection because the bacteria that is causing the infection is resistant to that particular antibiotic. In that case a different antibiotic to which that bacteria is sensitive has to be used.

To find out for which antibiotic the bacteria is sensitive you need to get a test called sputum culture sensitivity test. Once this test result comes ask your doctor to start the antibiotic course as per the culture sensitivity test report.

Continue taking Tyelenol till then.

Do salt water gargling, avoid oily food and non veg food and citrus fruits.

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarification feel free to ask.

Regards.
