Question : I've had a fever for 3 days ( high of 101.9) with chest congestion and mildly stuffy nose. I'm taking ibuprofen for fever and mucinexDM. How often can I take the NSAID - I don't seem to be able to get the fever below 99.9? How much should I take?

I have reviewed your information fully and this seems suggestive of an upper respiratory tract infection. Treatment consists in managing fever, eating healthy and exercising to help with recovery.

I prefer Tylenol for fever than Ibuprofen. I will suggest that you switch to Tylenol 1000mg every 6-8hours. This will control the fever and spares you of the consequences of stomach pain.
