Question: I have severe pain on my right flank in the back-about 6 inches above my belt line and 6 inches to the right of my spine-it seems to remind me of an inguinal hernia I once had and is exacerbated by bending over- any ideas?

Brief Answer:
It looks like musculoskeletal pain.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description, it looks like musculoskeletal pain.Pain increasing during bending goes more in favour of musculoskeletal pain.
Inguinal hernia occurs in the groin and the pain will also be present there itself.
I prescribe skeletal muscle relaxant tablet containing Thiocolchicoside 4mg twice daily to my patients with similar complaints.
If there is no response,Ultrasound abdomen should be done to exclude Right sided Ureter stone or abnormally located appendix.
Nothing to worry.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
