Question: I can only stand a short time. I have to keep walking around but my knees start to hurt. In the evening my legs feel heavy and I have a hard time putting one foot in front of the others. I do sit a lot because of my knees. There are days that my knees don't hurt as much and I can walk more. I don't know if I need to see a doctor and I don't know if I should see a specialist.

Brief Answer:
Get MRI and XRAY done.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through the query.

You have not given any history of fever, trauma or diabetes, so I am assuming it to be normal

It seems you have problem both in knee and lowerback from which nerves which supply the lower limbs came.

There seems compression of nerves in lower back for which you need MRI of lumbaosacral spine and send me the report.

For knee problem it seems their is arthritis developing so get xray of both knees standing in AP view and send me the report.

You can discuss all this with orthopedic surgeon near by you.

He will do your physical examination and act accordingly, you ma also discuss all that I explain to you.

Do not take any medication etc, without visiting orthopedic surgeon.

Thanks,

Dr.Chander Mohan Singh.
