Question : My urine is usually pretty clear but for the last few days it is very yellow. I also have some pain in my lower back, right side and stomach, not real bad but it's there. I just got back from Europe Sunday and usually I would have gained weight but I was the same as when I left and I've lost three pounds since Sunday. I am about fifteen pounds over weight so I don't mind losing the weight. The side pain could be from a strained muscle but the yellow urine is very uncharacteristic for me.

Brief Answer:
It can be due to kidney problem, just concentrated urine, jaundice

Detailed Answer:
Hi welcome to Health care magic,
Is there any burning while/before passing urine?
Any loss of appetite or nausea?
Your symptoms can be due to ---
kidney problem
just concentrated urine
jaundice

The back ache as you say can be independent.
Simplest solution--drink 3 L of water a day--if it does not go away--get a routine urine examination done.
You can revert back.
Regards
