Suggest Treatment For Persistent Lump On Tonsil

default
Posted on Tue, 1 Dec 2015
Question: I have one tonsil that's had a firm, smooth lump on it for about a year and a half. That tonsil is a bit larger than the other one in general. A variety of medical professionals have looked in my mouth for various reasons, and none have mentioned it, but have not been specifically looking at it either. It doesn't hurt, and other than that I'm fine. How concerned about this do I need to be?

Brief Answer:
Inequality in the size of the tonsils is normal...

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for posting the query

Inequality in the size of the tonsils is a normal phenomenon, unless associated with fever and abnormal cell counts.

Secondly, due to presence of multiple clefts in the tonsils, the upper pole of the tonsil can be seen separately from rest of the tonsil.

If you could kindly post the image of the throat, I can help you in clarifying your doubts.

Hope I have answered your query; I'll be available for the follow up queries.

Brief Answer:
Perfectly normal tonsils...

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for writing back

I have examined all the three images thoroughly and I have not found any major issues with your tonsils. They are perfectly normal, even though, the left one looks slightly bigger than the right.

Wish you good luck and good health.
