Question : Last week diagnosed with post nasal drip, due to itchy throat told it was allergy related. I began taking Zyrtec and over the next seven days suffered from very runny nose, nasal congestion, sinus pressure, jaw stiffness and a sore throat. it is day 9 and the other symptoms have cleared up, but the sore throat has persisted. Is this normal? it really doesn't hurt to eat. Attached is current lab work.
Brief Answer:
It is a viral infection
Detailed Answer:
Hello, Thank you for posting your question on Health Care Magic.
I've seen the attached reports, and by the description of your symptoms it could be an upper respiratory infection, which has not totally cleared up.
By and large looking at your blood tests it looks like viral origin.
The persistence of sore throat means remnant of infection.
Nothing to worry as it will subside soon .
If you develop fever, then antibiotic i.e. Co-Amoxyclav (Augmentin) is the drug of choice.
But as of now, regular warm salt water or betadine gargles should help.
Best wishes
